Winter
Winter Weather in Hamburg is cold and overcast, heavy snowfall is present and often settling for numerous days and even longer, causing road conditions to become hazardous and disrupting daily coming and goings. Hamburg weather is at its coldest during the months of January through to February; it’s not uncommon for temperatures to plummet to below -2ºC. During these months you can feel the chilling wind, blown in by the strong sea breeze of the North Sea. The Elbe River and lakes surrounding the city centre have been know to freeze over, giving ample opportunities for ski fanatics to come out in their masses and indulge in their sport. December snowfall is generally minimal, and icy hail is the common type of winter precipitation.
Spring
Hamburg Weather in springtime is very pleasing; the thousands of trees that line the city start to come into bloom, with new shades of green appearing. As March approaches dreary and cloudy winter days disappear replaced by warm, clear skies and sunshine starts to make a more regular appearance. Daytime temperatures rise to an average of 10°C by the end of March. At the same time just four weeks later highs of around 20°C are not unheard of.
Summer
Summer weather in Hamburg is classified as warm and rainy. As July and August arrive, so do higher daytime temperature, which eventually rise to an average of 21°C, occasionally intensifying and eventually reaching highs of more than 25°C. Hamburg weather during the summer season is also known for its high levels of precipitation; even though heavy showers are present it is hard to put a damper on the warm pleasant days.
